Kingsville Public Adjuster

Public Adjuster in Kingsville, TX

Claim help for Kingsville and Kleberg County homes, rentals, and businesses after large hail, downbursts, tropical storms, and flooding.

Kingsville is the Kleberg County seat, about 40 miles southwest of Corpus Christi on US 77, home to Texas A&M University-Kingsville and Naval Air Station Kingsville, with Baffin Bay and the Laguna Madre to the southeast. As a public adjuster in Kingsville, TX, we help homeowners, landlords, and business owners with hail, wind, tropical storm, and water damage claims. Corpus Christi Public Adjuster serves Kingsville from the Corpus Christi area; we do not keep an office in Kingsville and we come to the property.

Kingsville's older neighborhoods have many pier-and-beam and wood-frame homes under mature trees, alongside brick ranch homes, manufactured home communities, student rentals, and commercial buildings along the US 77 corridor and downtown. Older roofs, large trees, and manufactured homes all show up in the county's storm reports.

Large hail in Kingsville

Kleberg County has 55 NCEI hail reports, 12 at golf ball size or larger and 5 at baseball size or larger. More than half of all reports came in May. Two Kingsville events stand out:

Hail of that size can fracture shingles, crack the mat underneath, dent metal roofing and HVAC units, and break windows and skylights. The damage is not always visible from the ground, and an insurer's first inspection may focus on the most obvious areas only. Our hail damage claims page and our guide on public adjusters vs. insurance adjusters for hail claims explain what a thorough inspection covers.

Downbursts and straight-line wind

Kingsville has also been hit by powerful downbursts:

Downbursts are localized, so one block can be badly damaged while the next looks fine. That is why property-specific documentation matters more than neighborhood averages. See our wind damage claims page.

Tropical storms and hurricanes

Kingsville is inland, but tropical systems still reach it. On September 7, 2010, Tropical Storm Hermine knocked down tree limbs and power lines across Kleberg County and blew the roof off a local business in Kingsville, with a 63 mph gust at NAS Kingsville. When Hurricane Hanna came ashore on Padre Island in July 2020, the Baffin Bay monitoring site and radar showed hurricane force gusts in coastal Kleberg County, and surge damaged many piers at Loyola Beach and Riviera Beach. During Tropical Storm Harold on August 22, 2023, trees were blown down on the Texas A&M University-Kingsville campus, and Loyola Beach recorded a 67 mph gust.

Wind-driven rain from these storms often shows up later as ceiling stains, wet insulation, or mold. Our water damage claims and mold damage claims pages explain how those losses are typically handled.

TWIA, flood, and local rules

Kleberg County is in the TWIA designated catastrophe area. TWIA covers wind and hail only, TWIA claims generally must be filed within one year of the date of loss, and properties built, altered, or repaired on or after January 1, 1988 need a windstorm certificate of compliance for TWIA eligibility. Re-roofs and roof repairs fall under the TDI Windstorm Inspection Program. Many inland Kingsville homeowners instead have wind and hail on a standard homeowners policy, often with a separate wind/hail deductible; our deductible calculator can help you estimate yours.

Flood coverage comes from the NFIP or a private flood policy, generally after a 30-day waiting period. FEMA data (April 2025) lists Kleberg County as an NFIP participant without CRS status. City of Kingsville permit rules are set locally; check with the city before work begins.

Claim issues we often see in Kingsville

Kleberg County's NCEI history includes 64 thunderstorm wind reports (29 of them in May), 30 tornado reports, and 61 flash flood reports, so Kingsville claims come from many directions. Older pier-and-beam homes can take wind-driven rain through siding and windows as well as the roof. Large trees bring down limbs on roofs, fences, and vehicles. Manufactured homes are especially vulnerable to large hail and downbursts. And student rental properties raise questions about who insures what: the landlord's policy usually covers the building, while tenants need renters insurance for their own belongings.

If an insurer's inspection seems rushed or leaves out damaged elevations, our insurance estimate review and underpaid claims pages explain the next steps a policy may allow.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Kingsville in the TWIA area?

Kleberg County is one of the 14 coastal counties in the TWIA designated catastrophe area. Depending on what you bought, your wind and hail coverage may come from TWIA or from your regular homeowners or commercial insurer, so check your declarations page.

How large has hail been in Kingsville?

NCEI records include quarter to softball size hail in Kingsville on March 30, 1997, and tennis ball size hail on May 10, 2006 that broke more than 100 windows at a mobile home community on FM 1717. Kleberg County has five NCEI hail reports of baseball size (2.75 inches) or larger.

I rent my house to students. What coverage applies?

Rental homes are usually insured under a landlord or dwelling fire policy rather than a homeowners policy, and tenants need their own renters coverage for their belongings. Many landlord policies include loss of rents coverage. Policy language controls, so we start by reviewing yours.

Does Kleberg County participate in the CRS?

According to FEMA Community Status Book data (April 2025), Kleberg County participates in the NFIP but not the Community Rating System. We did not confirm the City of Kingsville's CRS status, so check FEMA or your agent.
